How to Rolled Chignon

How to Rolled Chignon

A couple of months ago, we chopped a good 5 inches off Camille’s hair to give it a fresh and healthy boost for summer, taking it from long-and-layered to medium-with texturized ends. Many of the updo tutorials we’ve done in the Pretty Simple series thus far have been great for long-haired ladies, so with Camille (and many of you) in mind, I created this style for a fun option that doesn’t requires cascades of long hair. I started doing this look on myself while I was growing my hair out, and fell in love. It’s super easy, and gives the impression that you’ve got locks for days! Fast enough for a weekday morning, yet elegant enough for a special occasion, it can be achieved in just a few easy steps…

Effortless High Pony

Effortless High Pony

With the temperatures heating up, it’s time to start thinking about the ponytail, an easy breezy go-to look for summer. Martha Lynn here, and I have all the details for taking your pony to the next level. I think the trick is to make it look a little special while keeping it effortless, so you don’t look like you just left the gym. A high ponytail that’s bouncy, secure and polished is a tall order, but it can be easily achieved if you break it down into a couple of sections:

Low Twist Chignon

Low Twist Chignon

With the temperatures rising (triple digits here in Texas), that means most of us just want our hair up and off our necks!  Martha Lynn here, and I love the idea of this braided updo as an alternative to a plain pony tail. While this look can work with casual daytime clothes, it’s sweet and feminine enough to wear down the aisle on your wedding day as well. This one is so easy you can do it in minutes — and I love the idea of finishing this style off with a fresh flower for a special occasion!

Camel Belted Coat

Camel Belted Coat

Back to normal and from the looks of winter, it is the second time I show this camel coat cloth, possibly the garment to which more use'm giving this season = D
The first time you I showed it to a more casual look, male shoes, wool cap and pullover eight, this time I opted for some classrooms, a belt defines the waist marking silhouette and striped shirt, you know that today's look is 100% my style, after four years with the blog, I'm pulling sets that have accompanied me all these years ... and with whom I feel really comfortable

Tatjana Catic Orange Slip Dress Fall Inspo

Tatjana Catic Orange Slip Dress Fall Inspo

Everyone has a comfort zone of which we rarely want to step out. Especially when it comes to what we wear, we automatically choose pieces, that are ‚safe‘. I love to try out new styles, colors, patterns, etc. but I have to admit: I also do have my kinda comfort zone and loooove to wear my typical style over and over again (basically very casual with some vintage details, a bit of ‚rock n roll‘ and Chucks). Why am I telling you this: basically because I wanted to pull this orange dress off with nude heels and a pretty basic bag and shades (as I would basically wear this kind of dress to a summer/cocktail party with a high bun maybe). Thanks to Zorana, who kind of pushed me to combine the color pink with this outfit, I stepped out of my comfort zone. I must admit, I felt super uncomfortable because this was just not me: Round, orange/pink sunglasses, pink bag with an orange dress and leo flats. But.. the longer I was wearing it I kind of felt better and better until I actually started to love this! What do you think? And what kind of style is your ‚safe zone’? Let me know!

Plaid Shirt Denim Skinnies - Vogue Haus

Another thing I got at sale is there red pumps, which I have already mention in a post a couple of days ago, but never showed you. I think that a pair of red heels can make the outfit really inveresting and bring it to the next level. Yesterday I went for a combination of my plaid shirt, (new) high waisted jeans from Topshop and red pumps. I went for a black bag and of course, my Celine sunnies!

Wine Lovely Shift Dress - Sequins & Things

Wine Lovely Shift Dress - Sequins & Things

Hey beauties! Wanted to throw up this post today because, with the #NSale being so popular, I was afraid many of the items would be sold out if I waited and posted it on a weekday. This is a great, classic shift dress for Fall. I, personally, would throw a faux fur vest over it. I just got the Topshop one included in the #NSale and, y'all, SO worth the sale price of $89! It's super soft, a great faux fur and fits well. AND HAS POCKETS. And you'll have it for years. Back to the dress ... I love the wine color. Also comes in a blue and red. It's lightweight and lined. I really like it!

Burgundy Scarf On Black Outfit - Mariannan

Burgundy Scarf On Black Outfit - Mariannan

Outfit of the day. Classic wool coat, with leather pants and point-toe boots, and a thin cashmere knit underneath. Black, burgundy and grey. I like that color combo! I finally found myself a pants of real leather that fit like a glove!! I was doubting even bringing these to the fitting room, it’s so hard to find any kind of trousers that fit nicely. (I hate jeans shopping!) But you know, these slipped on so comfily, and the same time they fitted well. Miracle! When you find the one, you understand why it never worked with anyone else. The perfect one is waiting there. Whether it’s a guy or a perfect pair of pants…

Dark Camel Puffer Vest Fall Inspo - Sequins & Things

Hello, hello! SO ... I've been so busy lately, in and out of town, that I haven't gotten myself organized enough to head over to shoot looks for the blog with Miguel ... BUT TODAY IS THE DAY! I have so many outfits to share, that I just haven't gotten around to shooting, and really really excited about them all! I thought it'd be fun to roundup a few of my favorite looks from September because a lot of the items that comprise them are still out there and available, and some are even on sale! Let me know if you like this post and would like it to be something that I do monthly for you guys! I'd be happy to read your comments down below!

Army Green Hunter Vest Ripped Skinny Jeans Gingham Button Up Nude Pumps Fall Inspo - The Sweetest Thing

I am using some of my old posts for today - mainly because many of pieces of these outfits are BACK in stock which is a pretty big deal because a lot of them sold out quickly last fall! Keep in mind, some of these are similar and some are exacts... i.e. the Tory Burch booties I am wearing in the above photo are no longer available so I linked similar.

Mustard Sleeveless Duster Fall Inspo - Nada Adellè

I wore this casual fit just before fashion week and didn't get the chance to post the full look for you guys who were asking where some of these must have pieces were from. Although it has gotten a little colder since, I think dusters are the perfect in-between jackets for these months where it is cold in the morning but you are dying from sun beems in the afternoon! I mean, in the past 24 hours I think we've had every single weather that exists... typical. I also finally added a fringe/tassel bag to my collection from the wonderfully British Zatchels. I actually had in mind a classic brown satchel as I've actually never owned one but when I saw this upcoming style (which also happened to match my shoes) well yes, lets just say I got a bit distracted! I absolutely love the quality of this one... a bit biased but there's nothing like home-grown goodness >.< I will have this in my closet for a long time.

Blue Ice And White Outfit Idea

Blue Ice And White Outfit Idea

I love wearing simple blouses and jeans, they are very comfy and you can't go wrong with that.

For this look I'm wearing a Miss Selfridge blouse that has very light blue, white and black colour and I'm also wearing these light blue jeans from Topshop.
For my heels I  chose my Kurt Geiger black pumps that have a very small heel and are comfortable to walk around in.

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Starting the week off with an all black outfit…which I absolutely love for fall. Pairing leather leggings with a chic boyfriend blazer makes for the perfect combo. This tunic has been a staple the past month or so…its just $42 and comes in 5 colors! It does run a little big, I’m wearing a XS for reference.

5 Best Exercises to Torch Your Flabby Belly

5 Best Exercises to Torch Your Flabby Belly

We know that there’s no great magic to achieving the perfect 6 pack, but rather it’s about a lot of hard work and clean eating. We also know that no matter how badly we’d like to believe otherwise, there’s no such thing as spot training.

This doesn’t mean, however, that you shouldn’t be working out your abdominal muscles on a regular basis. They make up a very significant part of your core and if they aren’t engaging then you are doing yourself a big disservice.

Before trainer Kit Rich became a Pilates instructor to the stars (and healthy-lifestyle ambassador for brands like Lucy), she was just a woman trying yet another crazy, extreme, or unhealthy diet in order to lose weight. "I tried everything," she recently told us, adding that she also suffered from eating disorders and body dysmorphia. "I was desperate to lose weight. So I would do, like what most women do, those freaking crazy juice diets. I would do all these extreme things, but it always brought me back to the other extreme."

The Ultimate Timing Guide, When To Eat - When To Workout

The Ultimate Timing Guide, When To Eat - When To Workout

We all know the recipe for healthy and lasting weight loss:

A balanced diet + exercise.

We also know that if we want to lose weight we have to watch what we eat and we got to have a good workout routine, but it includes many other factors too.

In order to achieve maximum effect, maximize the fat burn and maintain ideal weight, we have to include the factor “timing of meals and exercise.”

Timing is one really important factor, that actually almost no one pays attention to.

But the thing is, timing can help us succeed in our goals a lot, by getting the most out of your:

meals,
workouts
energy
It is really important to know when is the right time to do certain activities, and when is the right time to have certain meals.

10 Exercises that Burn More Fat than Running

10 Exercises that Burn More Fat than Running

Running is amazing. It allows you to get a stress-reducing, endurance-boosting workout with just a pair of shoes and an open road. It also burns calories, of course. At a 10-minute per mile pace, you’ll fry about 10 calories a minute.

That’s a solid number, and if you run faster, you can burn even more. But if running isn’t your favorite activity, there are plenty of other modes of exercise that can help you torch calories at a lightning fast rate.

So, I am kind of obsessed with this tank top. It's lightweight and airy, and such a fun color and print. My Anthropologie x Baublebar earrings really compliment it well, even though it's kind of a mismatched pairing. I like it. Be sure to grab these wedges before they sell out + they're still on sale!

Hot Pink Pleated Halter Maxi Dress - Hello Fashion

Hot Pink Pleated Halter Maxi Dress - Hello Fashion

The question on what to wear to weddings is one I get a lot. I shared some general tips a few weeks ago here in case you missed it and wanted to share another approach. From beaches to cathedrals, weddings can be all over the place and so can the dress code. For a day wedding you can usually get away with more casual attire.

For her, it’s the perfect opportunity to wear a maxi sun dress in a bright color or bold pattern (the dress I’m wearing today is under a $100). I love the simple pleating detail on this maxi dress which adds a perfect amount of elegance for a day wedding and the lightweight material makes it ideal for a warm summer day. A crochet lace dress is another great option for a day wedding – the material is a casual take on a more black-tie appropriate lace but still has the same feminine effect. A nude heeled sandal, fun print clutch, and feminine accessories finish it off perfectly.

44 Lazy Girl Beauty Hacks You Need to Try Right Now

44 Lazy Girl Beauty Hacks You Need to Try Right Now

Aaaahh eye makeup!  It is indeed the most time consuming and fiddly part of makeup application. Over the years, working playing with makeup, I’ve also adopted some simple techniques that can save a lot of time – especially on those days where you want to look presentable but don’t quite have the time to spend on application.

So here are some of my favourite tricks which will not only save you time but also make you a mini makeup artist in your own right ;)

LINE & CURL

I’m definitely an advocate for curling the lashes.  It’s amazing what a difference they make to your overall look.  It’s this love of curled lashes that also helped me master this “2 for 1” technique of lining the eyes as you curl them. It creates a soft, smudged-in look which is great for daytime.

The Busy Girl's Guide to: Everyday Beauty

The Busy Girl's Guide to: Everyday Beauty

Let’s face it, our lives are busy. That means that our perfectly coiffed curls often times end up looking an awful lot like a messy bun, and we can live with that. Because as much as we enjoy a sultry smoky eye, we know it’s not to be attempted daily. While we certainly don’t mean to boast, we must admit that we’ve got everyday beauty down to a science. It’s a three-part formula that serves us well and it will do the same for you.

3 Makeup Trends that are About to be Huge

3 Makeup Trends that are About to be Huge

Our beauty philosophy can pretty much be summed up with two words: Do you. And the beauty of that is it means something different to everyone. It can be a classic red lip, a bright-orange eyeliner, or nothing at all — the makeup world is your oyster, and it's meant to be played with.

Makeup artist (and we're stressing the word artist here) Michael Anthony is always down to play, so we called him in to review the best and boldest makeup trends coming out of Couture Week 2015. From the watercolor faces at Schiaparelli to the bold, angular brows at Chanel, there was inspiration everywhere. We mixed and matched our favorites into fall looks we knew you, our down-for-anything readers, would be game to try. Then we recreated them with products from Maybelline (a brand present backstage for countless runway shows).
