Minimalist Makeup: 3 Products, 3 Different Looks

Minimalist Makeup: 3 Products, 3 Different Looks

There’s a soft spot in our hearts for every last lipstick and liquid liner in our makeup bags, but we’re not going to wear all of it every day. Occasionally, we take a minimalist approach. The true makeup minimalist would probably apply tinted moisturizer, concealer and mascara and be done with it. Full disclosure: we’re not that type of makeup minimalist. We’re the type to wear the basics plus a few color cosmetics (because in our minds mascara is always a given). So we presented the challenge – use just three products to create three different looks – to professional makeup artist Jessica Scantlin and she proved that sometimes you can do more with less. Shimmering bronzer + bright lipstick + black eyeliner = three distinctly different, yet equally gorgeous looks.

The Busy Girl's Guide to: Waking up Pretty

As much as we all wish we could wake up from a slumber looking Sleeping Beauty-flawless, the reality isn’t always as pretty (read: not even close). After all, it seems like even the most effortless beauty looks involve some dedication and time spent in front of the mirror (or a talent with the blow dryer, at best). This works on the mornings when we miraculously avoid hitting snooze, but let’s be real – between all of our late nights and early mornings, the snooze button has become a close friend we’d rather not ditch. So what’s a busy girl to do? The answer is simple: Prep the night before. Your nightly routine can easily – and quickly – help you avoid the hungover zombie look the next morning, leaving more time for all that late night uh, studying you’ve been up to. Make Your Lipstick Last: The Secret to Long-Lasting Lipstick

The secret to setting your lipstick isn't really a secret. It's a combination of prep, application, and product choices. Check out these tips for a long-lasting lip.

1. To ensure your lipstick lasts, you'll want to ensure there are no flakes of dead skin renting out space on your pout. Use a lip scrub like e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator or Bliss Fabulips to exfoliate those little dudes away.

2. Next, apply a hydrating, non-oily lip balm. Anything with a waxy consistency is preferred over a slippery texture that will cause color to slide right off. I love Sephora's Super Nourishing Lip Balm.

We all know what a difference a couple coats of mascara or a slick of lip gloss can make, but the above photo really drives the point home.

The shot, which juxtaposes half a bare and half a made-up face, was posted by "Munner83" on Reddit.com several months ago. It has since gone viral, and netizens continue to share the picture digitally. The image is a product of ulzzang. 8 Tricks to Make Your Hair Less Greasy

8 Tricks to Make Your Hair Less Greasy

Oily hair is like oily skin. Sometimes that's just how it is. And other times it's that way because of the habits we keep. Of course, hair-type also plays a role in how oily strands will appear. All my fine-hair ladies (and I'm sure some with coarser hair too) know the slick hair struggle all too well; we're constantly trying to find ways to make your hair look less greasy. It's planning at exactly what time during the day hair needs to be washed so it will still look good during your evening date. It's trying to avoid touching it and flinching away when others do. It's extended time in front of the mirror wondering if an up-do is good enough or if today is just a hat-day. But greasy hair tends to be like most other insecurities: It always seems worse on yourself than how others see it.

5 Beauty Tips if you Wear Glasses

5 Beauty Tips if you Wear Glasses

A few years ago, my horrible eye habits caught up with me. My eyes were getting worse each year and with macular degeneration running rampant in my family (thanks, Dad), some of my aunts were blind by the time they were my age. That still didn't stop me from sleeping in my contacts and wearing pairs that should have been tossed months ago, as many times my parents warned me that it would catch up with me. Eventually, I tore the pupil of my left eye and, though it healed quickly, I ended up with a massive infection that transferred to my healthy eye. I was told my days of wearing contacts were over and given topical prescription drops to keep me on the road: My eyes had reached the point of tearing up with pain so frequently that being on the road was a very unsafe affair.

I don't know if some of you will understand me, but it's like one makeup product after another. I put on foundation, thinking I need more blush, then put on winged-eyeliner thinking I can't wear it without red lipstick, and it becomes a vicious cycle that's really hard for me to stop. I realize that finding a middle ground is a little tricker than I thought. All I want is to go out into the public feeling somewhat composed, but not get too carried away where my makeup is practically smeared all over my face by the end of the day.

7 Beauty Mistakes You're Making in the Shower

7 Beauty Mistakes You're Making in the Shower

Some of the world's best inventions, philosophies, and ideologies were probably thought up mid-bathe. Most of us do our best thinking (and best beautifying) in the shower. But where did the genius concept of bathing come from, anyway? Our earliest understanding of showers started with the waterfall. Ancient people would immerse themselves in natural springs for a good scrub. Then, there is evidence of upper-class Egyptians and Mesopotamians having indoor bathing rooms in their homes. Sure, these involved a jug, some cold water, and servant doing the work, but it was the closest thing to hygiene they had available. The first real showers, with pipes and all that hip, modern technology, were brought to us by the ancient Greeks, who created communal showers for the elite and commoners alike. Save water by showering with the whole town, as they used to say. I think.

The Perfect Messy Bun in 3 Steps

The Perfect Messy Bun in 3 Steps

Consider it one of life’s great ironies, but when it comes to beauty, the most undone looks usually take the most effort. Unfortunately, our struggle to master the perfect, “I-roll-out-of-bed-cool” messy bun, has also required a massive amount of effort (and many lost moments). Usually it’s either too messy and deflated, too ballerina-tight, or just wrong all together… until now. We found a fool-proof way to nail the perfectly messy bun in just 3 steps (MDC tested).

To enhance even the most glamorous lashes curling is an absolute must. A quick tip for a lasting curl is to heat your curler with your blow dryer for a few seconds (Don't get too close!). Then starting from the base and moving to the tip of the lashes (being careful not to pinch), use a light rapid squeeze and release action to curl each set of lashes. 7 Edgy Nail Art Ideas You Haven't Tried Yet

With a brisk winter ahead and a full-coverage wardrobe to match, it seems only right that one should find innovative, chic ways to stand apart from the crowd, starting with a manicure. Though 90 percent of your body may be covered in a fisherman sweater and trousers, your nails will be on display at work and home, so why not select a novel nail pattern or color to accent your everyday look?

Unlike costly couture or elaborate accessories, a manicure is short-term and low-risk format with which to express your unique style. If you find yourself growing tired of your look, it will be gone within a week or two, and for very little expense to boot.

Using the Fall/Winter 2014 and Spring/Summer 2015 backstage beauty as inspiration, here are seven au courant manicures to adorn your tips this winter. Some are office-appropriate, while others might be best saved for a long weekend or tropical getaway, but all are modern, fresh, and ready to break you out of your cold-weather doldrums. Who knows? You may not even find the need to stock up your closet with your fingers taking center stage.

Tone + Moisturize Blemish Treatment But remember, even the most impeccable night-time regimen can't always compensate for bad habits

It's all too easy to get lazy with your skin care routine when you’re dealing with a busy schedule. But skipping those bedtime face washes and moisturizer applications can really leave your complexion looking lackluster, dull and just plain blah. To get back your usual glowing, beautiful complexion, follow this simple skin care regime for three nights, courtesy of our expert, Licensed Esthetician and Acne Specialist Daniela Ferri:

Exfoliating Scrub + Clay Mask
The best way to reveal new, glowing skin is to remove the old, dull layer of skin cells blocking it. Once you’ve washed your face as normal, apply an exfoliating scrub. Just make sure that your scrub does not contain crushed fruit pits or nutshells. If you haven’t found a go-to scrub yet, Ferri recommends using a mix of sugar or corn meal with honey. Apply and rinse off with warm water after 10 minutes. Follow up with a clay mask for 10 minutes. (If you have dry skin, apply a layer of moisturizer before applying the mask.) Rinse off clay with cool water. Gently pat skin dry with a clean, dry towel.

She is well known for its modeled face = dark and light shadows. Bright highlights and enlarges meddans dark diminishes and deepens. Therefore usually put the light on the parts you want to highlight as kinben, chin, bridge of the nose and so on. And dark in cheek shade under the cheekbones, sides of the nose .. etc.

1. Blörja to moisturize Hurden with a moisturizer and use a primer (# 1).

2. Use a light and a dark foundation a light on the parts you want to highlight and em dark on those you want to "press" (see the first and second picture) So you should Applica a light foundation (# 2) (preferably one that is 1-2 shades lighter than your natural skin tone) on the cheekbones, toward the nose, under the eyes, chin, nose and up the middle of the forehead and the brows, during, runom nostrils and above the upper lip. A foundation that matches your natural skin tone, apply in the rest of snniktet (# 3) The darkest in the face, I put a krämsol "powder" from mac (forgot to have it in the product picture). The applcierar I of the lots I want to enter / reduce, as in: Kinskuggan, forehead and side of the nose. (Also, use a concealer (# 5) to cover more under the eyes).
