However, what if I told you that you could get the look without having to wake up early, without having to sit in your bathroom for hours, and without having to redo twenty minutes after your hair falls limp? Ah, I have your attention now. Yes, there is a way to make straight hair curly overnight.

8 Curling Iron Mistakes You Might Be Making and How to Fix Them

Curling hair seems pretty basic: you heat up a curling iron, wrap your hair around it, and you're done. Unfortunately, there are plenty of curling iron mistakes you could be inadvertently making that could damage your hair or prevent those darn curls from lasting all day — no matter how much hairspray you use. You might think higher heat or longer curling is the answer, but it's not. In fact, there are some details that can make or break your curls (and your actual hair, for that matter).

Remember that video of the poor girl who burned her hair off with a curling iron? While that was more on the freak side of accidents, there are a couple of ways to make sure that never happens to you. The first is to make sure you're not using an outdated curling iron. Older curling irons might not be made of the best materials that more current irons are. And if an older one was just, for example, ceramic-coated, keep in mind that those coats can wear off over time. Either way, your hair could be more susceptible to damage, and the iron more susceptible to shorting out.

Steps:

1. Start by curling all of your hair away from your face into ringlets.

2. Use your fingers to comb out and loosen the curls.

3. Backcomb under the crown of your hair for fullness.

4. Using a comb, start from behind the ears and section off your hair.

5. Pull the back section up into a ponytail.

6. Twist the right side back over the hair-tie and fasten with bobby pins.

7. Repeat the twist on the left side and be sure to hide any pins.

8. Complete with hairspray!

How-to Reverse Braided Bun Hair Tutorial

1. Begin by flipping your hair upside-down and combing straight.

Don't wash your hair everyday:
Washing your hair everyday can strip away protective oils that help keep hair healthy. Try washing your hair only 3 to 4 times a week. It may seem oily at first, but your scalp will adjust in no time. You can also use a dry shampoo to help dry up excess oil. Wash your hair in colder water to help fight frizz and keep your hair shaft smooth and healthy.

Dry your hair with care:
When you get out of the shower, gently squeeze excess water from your hair and pat dry with a soft towel. Don't rub or massage wet hair with a towel. Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb to work through tangles. Try to let your hair air dry as much as possible!

How-to Messy Twist Hair Tutorial

Upgrade your french braid from feminine, to fab and fresh with this week’s Messy Twist Hair Tutorial! A simple side twist travels all the way down into a perfectly tousled look that we are loving for warmer days! Find the full tutorial and steps below!

Steps:

1. Part your hair to the side, and grab two even sections from the fuller side of the part.

2. Begin your twist by pulling the front section upwards, and the back section down.

3. Twist the sections together and away from your face.

4. Similar to a french braid, add hair to the bottom section, and continue to twist back.

5. Continue adding pieces and twist all the way down to the ends of your hair.

6. Finish the twist by tightly wrapping the two final sections, and fastening with a hair-tie (the tight twist will naturally loosen).

9. Carefully hold each section of the twist, and gently loosen for fullness.

10. Keep loosening all the way down and finish with hairspray!
